Meath downed

After a narrow victory over one Ulster county last week, Meath came unstuck in Newry tonight when they were beaten 0-8 to 0-12 by Down in NFL Div 2.

Meath trailed by 0-1 to 0-5 after a slow start, but managed to close that deficit to 0-5 to 0-6 at the break. However, the hosts were too strong in the second-half as Meath squandered several decent goal chances.
