I hope you enjoyed last week’s column and challenged yourself to push out of your comfort zone. Now you find yourself in your transformation zone. Have you noticed any changes yet? Is it easier to wriggle into your favourite jeans? Has a friend complimented you on how you look? Are you walking that little bit taller, with an air of confidence about you? It feels good to be doing something to improve yourself, and I want to you to continue on your path to success.

I’m sure you’ve seen various TV and print advertisements, posters and flyers proclaiming the benefits of the latest exercise gadget or fitness DVD. They try to convince customers of their effectiveness by announcing money-back guarantees if you don’t see results within 30 days. While it is true that some of these gadgets and DVDs have some merit – you could waste a lot of money on products that don’t work for you.

The real secret to achieving your goal is…you. Regardless whether you follow my programmes or buy a DVD, your success or failure is down to you. I’ve gone through my own transformation from being over-weight to losing 8½ stone, and then working hard to build muscle and my physical strength. Believe me I know how difficult it can be to make changes to your lifestyle and to break the habits of a lifetime. It can take a while to get used to new eating patterns, healthier food options and to stop craving junk food. I also understand that my own metamorphosis and continued health and fitness regime depend solely on my determination to succeed. I know from my own experience that my willingness to stick to my training programme and develop healthier eating habits is crucial to my progress. I believe that everyone is stronger than they imagine, they sometimes just need a bit of help coaxing out their inner strength.

Have you tried other exercise programmes in the past to no avail? Are you apprehensive about starting again? Please don’t let fear of failure stop you. Just because you’ve had a false start in the past doesn’t mean that you won’t succeed this time. Remember I’ll be cheering you on and willing you to reach your goal every step of the way. I did it and so can you.
