New works have added to amenity of Moynalty.

€2.7m Moynalty project coming to an end soon

The €2.7 million engineering project in Moynalty village, which is nearing completion, has been welcomed by Cllr Catherine Yore. She congratulated the Meath County Manager, Tom Dowling, and his staff on the programme of works. "The finishing touches are being put to works, which include new sewerage and water mains, new public lighting with underground cabling, new footpaths and the reinstatement of the road surfaces," she said. "The €2.7 million project was completed on time and within budget by the council staff, despite inclement weather, winter working, difficult ground conditions and having to carry out the work in close proximity to where people are living," she said. Cllr Yore acknowledged the dedication, skill and enthusiasm of the manager and staff involved in the design, management and construction of the project. "There is a great partnership and co-operation between the local community and the county council in Moynalty, with the Tidy Towns group working closely with the council. The project demonstrates what can be achieved when there is effective co-operation. The community have been very patient while the extensive works were in progress," added the Carnaross FG councillor. "These works will add to the amenity of Moynalty and build upon the work and vision of others who preserved Moynalty and developed its amenities," she said. Cllr Yore said that many people enjoy the tranquil walks in the riverside setting of Moynalty, which enriches and improves quality of people's lives. "Moynalty Tidy Towns put a lot of work into presenting and improving the appearance and amenity of the village. They have had great success in the Tidy Towns and Pride of Place competitions and I wish them every success in this year's competitions. I know that with the completion of the works, they will be competing keenly this year," she added.
