Oldcastle lady (29) loses life in tragic road accident
A 29-year-old Oldcastle woman died on Saturday morning at Cavan General Hospital after she was struck by a car on the N3 Virginia-Cavan road as she tried to wave down traffic at the scene of a minor traffic accident.

Investment in new Dromone meat plant to create 30 jobs
The prospect of a new meat plant near Oldcastle generating 30 jobs by this coming summer has been warmly welcomed locally this week, after the Department of Agriculture confirmed a grant of €670,093 to the Traditional Meats Company, which plans to export its high-quality beef cuts, mostly to the continent.

Plaque unveiled to honour veteran Kells councillor
Over 100 attended last Saturday"s ceremony at Suffolk Street, Kells, where local town council cathaoirleach Brian Collins unveiled a plaque to his predecessor, Jim Carolan, a veteran public representative who served on the council from 1947 until his death in 1973.

Moynalty back roads suffer during sewerage project
Back roads around Moynalty are being used by heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) while the village"s sewerage works continue, and both the Ballintlieve and Farnadooney areas had suffered considerably, Cllr Bryan Reilly told the November Kells Area Council meeting.
