Well-known Kells musician Ollie Murphy has set up a music school in his hometown.

Murphy, who has been playing drums for 20 years is currently with Meteor-award winning Ham Sandwich who have played Electric Picnic and Glastonbury, toured the country, had a top 30 album and are currently working on the follow up to 'Carry the Meek' which will be released in September 2010.

He says: "Our mission is to provide quality music education for children and adults, to strive for excellence while focusing on enjoyment, to train both recreational and professional musicians and to foster a love of music in both."

Classes are available in guitar, piano/keyboards, bass guitar, drums, vocal training. All classes are taught by qualified musicians. You can learn for fun or train for grades or if you just want to learn your favourite song all levels are catered for. You don't have to own an instrument to start learning.

An open day takes place on Saturday next, 13th March, at the Old Carraig School, Lord Edward Street, Kells, Co Meath. Over four weekends you can 'try-an- instrument' at Kells School Of Music. You will share four one-hour lessons in the instrument of your choice in the company of a qualified, experienced member of our teaching staff, with complimentary tea/coffee available all day. Maximum number per group is two students.

There is no age limit and no previous experience is necessary. The atmosphere will be one of relaxed encouragement. Music classes for babies and young children from one to four years.

Music nurtures a child's natural love of music so it will last a lifetime. Classes are small, tailor made and carefully structured to encourage learning through musical interaction. Not only fun but helping to develop musical and social skills.
