'Jane Eyre" musical premiere in Navan

Ray O'Hare plays the lead role of Mr Rochester in 'Jane Eyre' in the Solstice Theatre this week.

St Mary"s Musical Society, Navan, will present the Irish premiere of the musical 'Jane Eyre" this week.

This musical adaptation of the Charlotte Bronte classic tells the story of an orphan girl who overcomes many challenges in her life to become the governess of Thornfield Hall, where she falls in love with Edward Fairfax Rochester, an earl with a dark secret.

The show debuted at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on Broadway in December 2000 where it went on to be nominated for five Tony awards, including a nomination for best musical.

The director for the Navan production is Tony Finnegan and the musical director is Ivan McKenna.

'Jane Eyre" will run in the Solstice Arts Centre, Navan, from 7th-17th May, with bookings at (046) 909 2300 or at www.solsticeartscentre.com

Concession nights are 7th and 8th May, €15; other nights, €20.
