Bypass plan enjoys widespread support in Slane

Dear Sir - There is no doubt that the Slane Bypass has been the subject of much controversial, ill-informed commentary since the plans were lodged with An Bord Pleanála.

As residents of Slane, we must believe that the vast majority of these observations come from people who are completely ignorant of the serious road safety situation that the people of Slane face on a daily basis. To believe otherwise would be to find these commentators in the unconscionable position of attempting to sabotage a road that will ultimately save lives.

Please be in no doubt that the Slane Bypass enjoys widespread support amongst our community. We are staggered that, after 22 fatalities, countless injuries and lucky escapes on the roads around our village, we find ourselves having to defend the construction of a bypass that should be obvious to even the most casual visitor to Slane, and is so desperately needed.

Yours,

Michele Power,

Bypass Slane Campaign,

Slane Cottage,

Drogheda Road,

Slane.
