NECSL soccer trials dates

The North Eastern Counties Schoolboys' League will host trails for their Emerging Talent Programme starting this month.

This season, the NECSL will hold their Emerging Talent Trials at St Patricks Classical School, Navan while Dundalk will also be a venue.

Conor Hynes, Jack Byrne and Colm Honan from the 1996 age group who participated at the Foyle Cup in July have all been selected for the FAI Regional Centre in Dundalk for the coming season.

Ben Hoey and Shane Freeman from the 1997 age group who had such a successful Galway Cup have also been selected.

At the 1998 age group nine players have been called up to the regional squad with - Dylan Doyle, Larry Power, David Harper, Conor McKenna, Keane Geraghty, Fintan Devlin, Steven Murray, Conor Brennan and Ross Tracy.

There was further reason to celebrate as Ross Tracy and Conor Brennan were called up to the FAI U-15 national development squad for the recent Hibernia Trophy in Dublin.

Tracy and Brennan impressed for the NECSL in the prestigious Kennedy Cup competition in June and both played a significant part for the FAI squad in the tournament where they played against Celtic, Linfield, Wolves and St. Joseph's Boys.

Last week it was also announced that recent Aston Villa and Fulham trialist Tracy as well as Brennan will be joined by Everton trialist and fellow Parkvilla (former Trim Celtic) and NECSL player Fintan Devlin for the forthcoming Ireland trials in September.

The trio will be aiming for a place in Irish manager Niall Harrision's squad who will meet up in October for a three-day training camp.

The first trial date for each age group will be for players who were not a part of last year's Emerging Talent squad and the second trial will be for players who impressed at the first trial and all players from last year's Emerging Talent Squads.

Clubs must return all nominations to the Emerging Talent Programme Administrator, Sandra McAuley - sandramcauley@gmail.com, as all players must be pre-registered.
