UPDATE - Man arrested in connection with Ashbourne death released

The man in his 30s who was arrested following the death of a 65 year old man in Ashbourne yesterday morning has been released without charge.

A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The 33 year-old was arrested by gardai yesterday, following the discovery of  a body  yesterday morning. A post mortem examination took place in Our Lady's Hospital, Navan today.

At approximately 12.30am on Tuesday, gardai and an ambulance were called to a house at Johnswood Drive in Ashbourne, according to Garda Press Office. A 65 year-old man was unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body has been taken to Navan where a post mortem is being carried out. 

A 33 year-old male was arrested and detained at Ashbourne Garda station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended, but has since beenr eleased.

The house was preserved for a technical examination and the State Pathologist notified.
