Gardai detain man after Market Square handbag snatch

A 20 year old male was arrested in Navan in the early hours of this morning following the theft of a handbag from a person at Market Square. At 2.30am Gardaí on patrol witnessed a male take a handbag from a woman and running off. He was chased by Gardaí and arrested and taken to Navan Garda station. He will be appearing in Court in relation to this incident.

Yesterday (Thursday), a 16-year old youth was taken into Navan Garda Station following a serious incident involving a knife on Market Square.

The incident happened around 10.30am when the male youth threatened a member of the public at the bus stop on the square. 

Gardai who were watching the incident on CCTV camera were quickly on the scene and apprehended the youth.
