The Mulchrone family from Navan

Birthday cake surprise creates real slice of happiness for Navan family

Navan’s Brian Mulchrone got the shock of his life for his 40th birthday when friends and family sprung a surprise party on him!
It was a wonderful night enjoyed by all and while Brian was obviously the star of the show, his amazing birthday cake created a huge sensation.
The hand-decorated cake featured an almost identical model of Brian, Lisa and their children much to the amazement of the guests.
The cake was made by Linda Holton of Lummy Cakes in Longwood.

“I gave her a family photograph and she created the cake. As well as looking good, it tasted great too - it was amazing. Everyone loved it,” says Lisa. Brian, who lives in Blackcastle Demesne, had no idea what Lisa was planning for his birthday.
“We went out with a few friends for a Chinese beforehand.
“Brian thought we were just going for a quiet drink afterwards in P Clarkes on Bridge Street and got an awful shock.”
The couple of have three children, Caoimhe, Conor and Charlie, who loved the cake and were amazed at the likeness to the family.
Linda Holton runs Lummy Cakes from her home.

“I have a degree in food science, but when I had my children I stayed at home. I started making birthday cakes for the children and then for other people.
Linda got certification from the Environmental Health Office and just takes on a couple of cakes a week.
“It is enjoyable, but time consuming and I work around my children’s schedule.”
Linda can be contacted through the Lummy Cakes Facebook page or lummycakes@gmail.com.
