Coffee morning for Aisling

St Mary's Convent Primary School, Trim, will host a coffee morning fundraiser tomorrow from 10am to 3pm in aid of Aisling Brady, a past pupil of the school.

Aisling, a teacher in St Joseph's Mercy Secondary School, in Navan, was on a career break working in Dubai as a maths and physics teacher when she very suddenly took ill. Aisling suffered three cardiac arrests and a stroke brought on by a clot.
Having spent almost two months on life support and in a high dependency unit in a hospital in Dubai, Aisling was medically evacuated to Ireland’s Mater Hospital on January 5th 2018.  Her mum Antoinette explained she is now waiting for a place to become available in the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Dun Laoghaire. However, her rehabilitation will need to continue for years to come because of her complex rehabilitation needs.
"The funds raised will be used to pay for ongoing crucial therapies which will enable her continue her rehabilitation journey and achieve the best recovery possible for her in the months and years ahead.
"Sadly, the road will be a long one for Aisling but, together, by supporting this very worthy fundraiser, we can help give her a better chance to be the best she can be," said Antoinette.
Aisling attended primary school in St Mary's and her mother Antoinette taught there for several years. Teacher Michelle Harte, one of the organisers said: "We wanted to help in some way with Aisling's rehabilitation. Aisling is a past pupil of our school and Antoinette, her mum, is a former colleague of ours. Aisling has spent the past few months in the Mater Hospital, Dublin and is now awaiting a bed in the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Dun Laoghaire but her rehabilitation will not stop here.

"The funds raised will be used to pay for therapies and anything else needed for Aisling to help with her recovery in the months and years ahead. The road will be a long one for Aisling but obviously we all want her to reach the best outcome possible for her."
All at St Mary's will be busy baking ahead of the day and cake donations can also be left in the school in the morning.
Tickets are €10 and can be purchased from the school office or on the day.
A very successful coffee morning fundraiser was held in March in St Joseph's Mercy Secondary School, Navan where Aisling was teaching before taking a career break to travel.
Between the coffee morning, the Silver Circle raffle organised by the Parents Council and an intercultural/jersey day organised by the students, the school community raised €31,000 towards Aisling's rehabilitation.
