Crucial 'conscience vote' significant for Toibin

A crucial vote at this weekend's Sinn Fein Ard Fheis will have a significant impact on Deputy Peadar Tóibín's political future.
The Ard Fheis which takes place in Belfast will debate a motion which proposes giving Sinn Fein the freedom to vote with their conscience when it comes to Dail legislation on abortion.
While the party leadership is opposed to a free vote, Deputy Toib8n has said there is a significant grassroots members within the party who are willing to allow a free vote.
"It remains to be seen if it passes," he said.

Deputy Toibin, who played a prominant role in the No campaign in the recent referendum, has  in the past always been clear on his views -  "no abortion under any circumstances."
Deputy Tóibín was suspended from the Sinn Féin parliamentary party for six months in 2013 , when he defied the party whip by voting against the Protection of Life During Pregnancy Bill.
