LIFE LETTERS: Attracted to my work colleague, trouble  is we're both married with kids!

Each week our agony aunt Clare Conway reads some real-life problems and offers some no-nonsense answers. Here are just a couple of the questions she'll respond to in this week's Meath Chronicle. What would you advise?

Dear Clare,
I work in Dublin and commute from Meath. I often have to stay overnight in Dublin when meetings run late or when I have a very early start.

I am happily married with two adorable kids and a wife who works part-time and my problem is this. I have recently met a woman who I can’t get out of my mind. She is not some office junior with a pretty smile, she is the same age as me, also happily married with a child.

She joined the staff over a month ago in a similar managerial position. I thought my feelings were one-sided but she has recently let me know that she feels the same. We are playing with fire, I know, but how do I switch these feelings off? Or should I arrange to meet her on one of my overnight stays?

I’ve never strayed before but I really do feel that this has the potential to be really something special. I don’t know what to do.

Something's got to give, his mother, or me!

Dear Clare,
My mother-in-law is driving me mad, and I don’t think I can take much more. Last year we agreed to extend the house and fit a granny-flat and she moved in earlier this year. Everything seemed fine at first, but things are gradually getting out of hand. She spends very little time in her own flat, and far too much in my house. And more recently, she has taken to telling me how to rear our seven-year-old daughter. My daughter is mad about her, but only because she’s spoiling her, driving her to the shops and buying her anything she wants. It’s making discipline of any kind very difficult. I love my husband and don’t want to hurt his feelings by telling him is mother is an interfering old bag, but if something doesn’t happen soon, it will come down to his mother or me. Please give me some solid advice.
