Mary Lou McDonald and Joe Reilly at Meath Co Council

‘His courage and dignity is testament to all we know and love about Joey’

The Sinn Fein leader paid a glowing tribute to her party colleague Cllr Joe Reilly who accompanied her on parts of her Meath tour.
"Joe Reilly is well known in Navan and Meath as a proud Navanman and a proud Meathman. He is widely regarded and respected and understandably so. He is also a national figure and has been a key part of the republican leadership for many, many years. I am honoured to call him a comrade and friend. Joe continues to act as a mentor to the generations of republicans who are following in his footsteps, including Peadar Tóibín and Darren O'Rourke in Meath.
"The way he is approaching his illness, with such courage and dignity, is an testament to everything we know and love about 'Joey'."
