Locals concerned about crumbling stone bridge in Walterstown

People living in Walterstown have expressed their concern about the condition of an old stone bridge in the area which has started to crumble in recent weeks.

The bridge is located beside Walterstown Church and has in the past week alone disintegrated at an alarming rate.

The bridge marks the start of a narrow road that continues up what is known locally as the 'Hill of the Rock' and of particular concern to people is the amount of heavy-goods vehicles that use the road on a regular basis. The concern is further damage will be done to the old bridge.

Meath Co Council have been notified and on Monday they marked off part of the bridge indicating that repair work is about to get underway.
