Secondary roads are treacherous in places

Here's the latest locations where Meath Co Council are focusing attention

The Status Orange snow and ice warning has been extended to midday on Sunday for Munster, Leinster, Cavan and Monaghan.

A Status Yellow warning for Donegal and Connacht is also in place until midday on Sunday.

Meath County Council has said the priority today is to continue working on clearing main routes, clearing snow drifts and addressing access issues for critical and medical emergencies.

Currently working on:

Fairyhouse Road - please avoid until cleared.

Roads in the  Dunshaughlin, Ratoath and Dunboyne area.

Navan to Kells road

R125 Dunshaughlin – Ratoath is now passable with extreme care.

Working  to open the N52 to two-way traffic.

Army personnel currently assisting in the clearing of footpaths in Ashbourne, Stamullen, Ratoath, Athboy and Navan and will move to other urban areas as required.

Access issues remain in terms of local roads and housing estates, so we would ask people to drive with care and only undertake essential journeys.

Meath Fire Service and the Council’s Civil Defence crews are on standby to provide emergency assistance, if required.
