Search continues in Vienna for missing Athboy man Ross Hanlon

A television appeal is being screened in Vienna - to try and help trace a young Meath man, missing since yesterday.

Ross Hanlon (21) from Athboy was last seen around 2am on Friday morning.

He had travelled to the Austrian capital on a trip with some college friends, but it's understood he became separated from the group during a night out.

"At the moment, the police started an investigation because the two friends went to the police when their friend didn't come home so they reported him missing,"  Katharina Weinmannwho is an editor with Austrian TV Station O.R.F and was quoted in the Irish Examiner.

"The police stations in Vienna are now doing a search.

"They are hoping that our reports tonight on our television station will help to find any clues about what is going on here in Vienna with this missing person."

Meanwhile, members of the man's family are now travelling to the Austrian capital to join the search.

His girlfriend, Kelly issued a heartfelt plea for him to get home safe.

"Ross I’ll do anything and everything I can to get you back home safe your my best friend I need you, I love you with all my heart please just be safe," she said.

The young man's older brother, Craig, told Independent.ie that everyone is praying he is okay.
