Who was Lord Dunsany, Ledwidge's patron?

There is much focus on Francis Ledwidge, the Slane poet, on the centenary of his death in World War I. But what of the life and times of the man responsible for introducing the young poet to the literary world - the writer and dramatist, Edward Plunkett, the 18th Lord Dunsany?

As part of Heritage Week, Dunsany ICA is presenting its annual talk on Wednesday 23rd August, which this year looks at the literary and army career of Edward Plunkett.

Local journalist, John Donohoe will look at Dunsany's published work, while Dr John Graham, vice-chairman of the trustees of the Inniskillings Museum in Enniskillen, will talk about how the army careers of the two men were intertwined. The event, which is free of charge, begins at 8pm in Horace Plunkett Hall, Dunsany Crossroads, and there will be a musical interlude. All are welcome.
