Mercy students celebrating today

High excitement as students get Leaving Cert results

There was high excitement around Meath this morning when up to 2,000 anxious students gathered at schools to hear their Leaving Certificate results.

Groups of young adults were seen congregating in towns across the county this morning, excitedly discussing the results and possible offers of college places.

At St Joseph's Convent of Mercy this morning, Principal, Ms Mary Mulligan was delighed with the results.

'I am delighted with the girls and thrilled with the results overall. The new points system encouraged more girls to do higher level subjects and I am delighted that they were successful at higher level.

'They are lovely girls and worked hard and it is very rewarding this morning to see that hard work does pay off,' she said.

'I wish them well in the future and we will see what the CAO offers have for them on Monday.'

Among those who received their results at the Mercy this morning were Blanthnaid Keyes of Boyerstown who was delighted to get 613 points and is now hoping to study medicine.

Catherine Smyth of Ardmulchan  was delighted with her results, but  before she starts celebrating tonight however, she will play for Seneschalstown against Royal Gaels in the Meath Junior C Championship Semi Final this evening.
