Collecting water in Drogheda today

Drogheda won't have water before late tonight "at the earliest"

Drogheda will not have water back up and running before late tonight 'at the earliest' Irish Water has stated.

Local residents have been without a proper water supply for three days now with residents having to fill containers from the water tankers supplied by the local authorities.

Irish Water has advised it has not successfully made a complete repair to the main line feeding water to Staleen Water treatment plant.

The plants supplies the main urban districts of Drogheda and surrounding areas at Rosehall, Roughgrange, Clogherhead, Termonfeckin including large portions of East Meath at Ashbourne, Ratoath, Curragha, Duleek, Donore, Bettystown, Laytown, Mornington, Julianstown, Gormanstown, Ardcath, Stamullen, Skyrne.

'The additional difficulties encountered to date have unfortunately pushed back the supply restoration times that we had indicated previously. The extended timelines have now exhausted storage reservoir capacities and have resulted in restrictions to water supplies to many urban areas.'

Irish Water said repairs will be ongoing from first light tomorrow morning and we will notify customers and businesses of anticipated supply restoration times for the affected water supply zones as soon as they are available. Unfortunately due to the complexities onsite its unlikely to be until late Sunday evening at the earliest.
