Three women killed in N2 collision near Ardee

Three women have died and two men are in a serious condition in hospital following a three car collision on the N2, south of Aclint Bridge, Ardee, at approximately 1am this morning.

Ardee Gardai are investigating the collision which claimed the life of the 39-year-old female driver of one of the cars and two female passengers aged 37 and 69.

Two males, who were seriously injured, were removed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda.

The N2 is closed between Ardee and Aclint Bridge to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and will remain closed for the day. Diversions are in place but Gardaí are asking motorists using the M1 to divert at Junction 17 for Castleblayney.
