Boy (8) critical following accident

An eight-year-old boy is in a critical condition following an accident in Navan this afternoon.

It is understood the child was struck by a car while crossing the road at 3pm. The accident happened on the Kells Road at the junction near Navan Fire Station.

The boy was taken by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, where he is in a critical condition.

The section of road remains closed pending a forensic collision examination, with diversions in place.

Navan Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to contact Navan Garda Station on (046) 9079930.
