Haymaking festival to remember Paddy Pryle

A minute's silence will be observed at Trim Haymaking Festival on Sunday to mark the sudden passing of Paddy Pryle, who was involved in Scurlogstown Olympiad for many years.

“Paddy was a dedicated member of the group at Scurlogstown for many years and to say that we are devastated to hear of his passing really is an understatement,” the haymaking committee states.

Tributes have been flowing in for the community activist who died suddenly while visiting Canada this week.
Padraig Fitzsimons of Navan Shamrock Festival said: “Without his vision, drive, determination and sheer hard work, we would have had no St Patrick’s Day Parade in our town for years.”
Ellen McDonagh said: 'Meath Travellers Workshops could always depend on the genuine support and help from Paddy.'

On behalf of local driving instructors, Barry Fitzpatrick said: “From myself and many instructors who asked him a question about teaching, he was always happy to answer and there was nothing he did not know about driving.”
Cllrs Noel French and Joe Reilly have also paid tribute to the man they worked with on many committees.
