Leah Barniville was sensational on BGT and she can still make it through to the Grand Finale

There's still a glimmer of hope that Leah Barniville can make the Britain's Got Talent finals after missing out last night.

Despite receiving a standing ovation from the audience for her performance and rave reviews from the judges, the Ratoath College student failed to advance, losing out to comedy magician Matt Edwards and young magician Issy Simpson.

The teenager sang a stunning rendition of Parla Piu Piano, from The Godfather and it was left to the public's votes to decide her fate. The Meath Chronicle's Facebook and Twitter feeds were full of supportive messages from all over Ireland with many including the phone numbers to ring to help Leah qualify. Some complained of not being able to get through to the show's vote line.

Show boss Simon Cowell said that 14-year-old Barniville's performance of Parla Più Piano - the Italian version of Speak Softly, Love from The Godfather - had been fantastic but added: 'I wish we had done something more with your staging.'

Alesha Dixon said it was a 'faultless performance', while Amanda Holden marvelled at her powerful voice.

'You have an unbelievable voice and you're so confident for someone so young, I don't know how you do it,' she said.

David Walliams was also impressed and praised her singing as 'magical'.
After Leah performed Caruso by Lucio Dalla in the auditions, which was broadcast on Saturday, judge Simon Cowell said she was the 'next big thing' but tonight he felt she lacked a big production.

Leah can still make it through to the grand finale of the series with the willdcard vote, which will be cast at the end of the week. Fingers crossed
