Hunt on for cuddly cat who thinks she's a dog

The hunt is on for a stowaway cat who thinks she is a dog.

“We need your help to find Truffles,” said Maureen Donnelly of her much loved family pet  who decided to hitch a lift in an eir technician’s van in county Meath yesterday (Monday) morning.

“She got into the back of the eir van unknown to the driver who headed off with her.  A neighbour tried to stop him but he didn’t see her,” explained Maureen.

Maureen is asking everyone who knows an eir or Vodafone technician in the Drogheda or North Dublin area to ask them “to check their vans or if they were in Grange Rath and saw Truffles to contact me.  Appreciate any help in getting her home.”

Maureen said: “She is quite a large cat and a total pet. We got her just over 9 years ago from Drogheda Animal Rescue and she is part of the family.”

Truffles acts like a dog because she follows the family and will happily hop into the car.

“She is very happy going in the car so she may have fallen asleep in the back of the van.

“She possibly thinks that she's a dog as she also comes running when whistled for, will follow us when we go out walking and she will actually come running down the road to meet me when she hears my car, then she hops in and sits on my knee!

“She rarely stays outside at night unless it's really mild and warm and even then, she stays at the front door.”

A spokesman for eir said this morning “eir technicians are known for their friendly and approachable manner, so it is no wonder that Truffles wanted to hitch a ride on our superfast fibre bandwagon. We’ll have our Drogheda team on the lookout today and do our best to speed Truffles home.”
