Young mother who died following Castletown collision named

The 26-year-old mother who died following yesterday's road traffic collision on the Navan-Kingscourt Road at Leggagh, Castletown, has been named locally as Emma O'Keeffe.

Local communities are stunned by the tragedy which claimed the life of the young mother and left her two sons in hospital, one of whom remains in a critical condition in Temple Street Children's Hospital.

Navan Gardai are investigating the collision involving a truck and a car, which occurred at approximately 1pm yesterday. There were three occupents in the car, a woman, and two boys aged seven and two. The injured woman was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, where she sadly passed away this morning.

The seven-year-old boy was initially taken to the Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital but was then transferred to Temple Street where he remains in a critical condition. The two-year-old was airlifted to Tallaght Hospital and transferred to Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin. It is believed the family had been living in the Nobber area.

The driver of the truck was not injured.
