Ronan Moore at the launch of his second book.

Moore the merrier from Ronan!

Ronan Moore’s hilarious new book ‘Irishography’, was recently launched in Trim Library.

Having travelled overseas for several years, Ronan Moore realised that while he might have seen the Great Wall of China, swam in the Nile and watched a football match at the Maracana, he had never been to the Giant’s Causeway, stepped foot on Tory Island or stopped to look at the Big Ball in Naas!

Ronan, who lives in Trim and teaches English in St. Patrick’s Classical School, Navan wrote about all of the characteristics, customs and quirks of the Irish in his first book, ‘Irishology’. For his second book, ‘Irishography’, Ronan set about listing all the unique places that help make Ireland home. With five entries for every county in Ireland (even Leitrim!), Irishography takes us on a cheeky tour of Ireland, pointing out the finest features of our fair isle along the way. As a Meath native, Ronan made sure the Royal County is well represented in the new book, with entries dedicated to Newgrange, Trim Castle, the Hill of Tara and Tayto Park.

With a keen eye and a sharp wit, Ronan’s humorous and irreverent guide will fill you in on little known gems in places like Galway, where rainfall is measured not in millimetres but in days, or Limerick - ‘a little like the Keyser Soze of Irish counties with a name far more notorious than the place ever was’ - and of course Fermanagh, which regularly tops the list of Irish counties that people forget when trying to name all 32.

Whether as a gift to a loved one overseas or as an informative and humorous travel guide to our island home, Irishography makes the perfect Christmas present and is now available to buy in all good bookshops, including Eason in Navan and Antonia’s in Trim.
