Castletown musicians will travel to Prague tomorrow

The Castletown Accordian Orchestra will travel to Prague tomorrow morning to participate in an international accordion festival.

Accordion players from all over the world will take part in the Accordion Festival Prague, which starts tomorrow and continues to Saturday. Eighty six people from Meath and Cavan who are part of the Castletown Accordion Orchestra group will travel and gthey include, a Youth and a Senior Orchestra, their supporters and families.

During the three day festival the two Castletown Accordion Orchestras will perform a number of concerts. The Youth Orchestra led by musical director Sara Brennan will play at a concert tomorow night in Lieben Castle and the Senior Orchestra led by musical director John Chilton will perform at the Gala Concert to be held in the Prague Conservatory of Music on Friday night. Both orchestras will compete in competitions held on Saturday.

The Castletown Accordion Orchestras have been rehearsing in Mullagh Primary School on Friday’s and Sundays since September in preparation for this prestigious competition.
