Oristown devastated by shocking death of teacher and her family

The close knit community of Oristown has been devastated by the shocking death of popular local teacher, Clodagh Hawe and her entire family, in an apparent murder suicide in their home in Co Cavan.
Pupils, staff and parents were visably shaken as they arrived at Oristown National School this morning, the day after the grim discovery of the five bodies in their home in Ballyjamesduff.
Clodagh was a daughter of Mary and Pat Coll and grew up in the Clontyduff between Mountnugent and Ballinacree.
Prior to teaching in Oristown she had also taught in St Oliver Plunketts NS in Navan and Lismullen NS. Her husband, Alan, deputy principal of Castlerahan NS school in County Cavan had taught in Skryne NS in the past.

Her husband, Alan and the couple’s three  sons Liam, Niall and Ryan also died in the tragedy.
The tight knit community of Mountnugent and Ballinacree was also in shock and mourning this week at the loss of a young woman who had grown up in the area and who was a member of a well respected local family.
Gardaí are investigating the discovery of the bodies of the family of five at Oakdene, Barconey on Monday morning.

The Gardai say they are not looking for anyone else in relation to the deaths.
Ann O’Kelly Lynch, Principal, Oristown National School said. “This is a terrible tragedy for the families, schools and the communities involved.
“Our sympathies and thoughts are with Clodagh’s family and friends.
“Clodagh (pictured above) was a much loved and valued teacher in our school and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.”
