The Centra Carlanstown staff celebrate selling the winning ticket.

Freedom comes to mind, says EuroMillions winner

One delighted Meath man brought the Friday feeling into National Lottery headquarters today after he collected a cheque for a massive €436,958 after matching five numbers and a lucky star in the EuroMillions draw on Friday 5th August.

The man from the Carlanstown area of Meath who wishes to keep his win private, purchased his winning Quick Pick selection ticket on the day of the draw in Centra in Carlanstown, Kells.

The delighted winner who is a National Lottery online player stated that he always plays his EuroMillions numbers online but on this occasion he was unusually drawn to his local shop in Carlanstown to play a quick pick selection for the draw on 5th August.

'I would always play my Lotto and EuroMillions numbers online but I was in my local shop in Carlanstown and I decided to play a Quick Pick there instead, thankfully,' he laughed.

'I was on my laptop the next day and I was checking the numbers from the previous night and I just could not believe it when I saw the results come up on my screen. I had to keep checking and checking to make sure that I didn’t make a mistake with the date but sure enough, here I am in the National Lottery offices with a cheque for over four hundred thousand euro in my hands! It will take some time to sink in but it is an unbelievable feeling,' he said.

'The one feeling which keeps coming into my mind is freedom. The freedom from money worries and the freedom to start making decisions. I was in a tight spot financially but this win will give me the freedom to make some important life changes. I am going to pay off my mortgage, pay all of my bills and then go on a nice holiday in the coming weeks,' he added.
