Silver for Kevin at Fleadh Cheoil

Young mouth organist Kevin McCarthy from Kells won a silver medal at the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann.

Kevin (13), who is from Kells, is a member of the Navan Comhaltas Ceolteoiri Eireann group where he is a regular attendee of the Sunday music sessions in The Central with his brother Darragh (10) .

Kevin who has mastered many instruments, won first place in the Leinster Fleadh in Kilkenny in July where he then progressed to the All-Ireland in Ennis. He took part in the mouth organ section 12-15 yrs and secured the silver All –Ireland medal. First prize went to Tipperary and third prize went to Wexford.

Paddy Pryle, chairman of Navan CCE and Cllr Noel French, chairman of Meath Tourism, made a presentation to Kevin at the CCE session in Navan.
