Boyne canal on 'Nationwide' tomorrow evening

One of RTÉ’s flagship programmes, ‘Nationwide’, will broadcast a special programme from the banks of the Boyne tomorrow evening.
The programme, which attracts over 350,000 viewers per episode, is visiting the region as part of Heritage Week 2016 which takes place from 20-27th August.
Nationwide’s presenter Mary Kennedy will visit the Boyne canal. She will learn about how sections of the canal have been restored by a team of very dedicated local volunteers.
The stretch of the Boyne Canal at Oldbridge will be featured in this piece.
The Boyne Canal Restoration group have been working on a voluntary basis for years on restoring the canal.
Last Saturday (13th August) volunteers were hard at work on a section between Oldbridge Guard Lock - at back of Battle of the Boyne Centre and Oldbridge Sealock.
During Heritage Week members of the public will be able to enjoy free boat rides along the restored canal.
As part of her visit to the River Boyne, Mary will meet two new business start-ups that have emerged as a result of the canal restoration.
The programme will also preview other activities taking place across the country as part of this year’s Heritage Week programme.
