Meath River Rescue replaced three life rings in ONE week

The removal of life rings from the banks of local rivers could cost lives - that is the stark warning from Meath River Rescue.
In the past week, the local voluntary rescue organisation replaced three life rings- two in Trim and one in Navan.
Meath River Rescue Chairperson Christopher Rennicks explained that they check the life rings for Meath County Council every fortnight, and replace any that are missing.
“We replaced three today - two in Trim and one in Blackwater Park in Navan. About two months ago, three were gone in the park in Navan.”
There are about 15 life rings in Trim and about 20 in Navan.
“It is very disheartening to see them gone. If you have a ring, there is a chance of getting someone out. It could be the difference between life and death,” he said.
Mr Rennicks has appealed to people to leave the rings alone, and again highlighted their importance.
He said often members of the public will contact them if they notice a ring missing and is urging people to make them aware if they notice any missing.
