Meath riders in RDAI Display Ride at RDS Horse Show

 

Tomás Nally from Navan and Sorcha Cullen from Kells put on a confident display of their horse riding abilities when they participated in the world famous Dublin Horse Show at the RDS in Dublin in front of a large and appreciative crowd.

Tomás, representing Navan RDAI group and Sorcha from the Kells RDAI group were two of 10 riders from the national voluntary organisation, Riding for the Disabled Association Ireland (RDAI) participating in a Trail Ride at the RDS on Saturday, 23rd July.

Nine year old Sorcha lives in Kells with her parents and her two little sisters, Alannah and Róisín. Her friends Lara and Amy go riding with her every Thursday. She attends St Ultan’s school in Navan where she has a great time every day with her friends and teachers.

Sorcha loves horses and has been riding at Kells Equestrian Centre since the age of five. She loves to tack up her own pony and she is also an excellent swimmer and runner. She loves music and dancing, and her favourite cartoon show is Horse Land. Sorcha’s mum, Alva said she has a wicked sense of humour, and a great fake cry, and is always playing tricks on everyone.

Tomás Nally is a huge Meath GAA fan who attends all their games has been horse riding for a number of years. He was determined to take his place at the RDS even following recent eye surgery. Tomás has taken part in two all-Ireland Special Olympic Games, winning gold at both. As well as horse riding, Tomás enjoys swimming, athletics and strutting his best moves on the dancefloor!

He is a fan of all sports and was cheering on Ireland passionately in Euro 2016 and is still celebrating Robbie Brady’s goals. Besides sports, his other passion is chocolate cake!

The RDAI (www.rdai.org) was established in 1969 and has more than 600 volunteers helping 700 people with disabilities to enjoy the therapeutic benefits of horse riding and carriage driving throughout Ireland.
