Meath teams complete Nurburgring marathon

Two Meath four-man teams completed the 'Rad Am Ring' 24-hour endurance race at the Nurburgring in Germany this morning shortly before midday in an event that attracted upwards of 20,000 cyclists who competed in teams of one, two, four and eight.

The teams - Team Celtic Media (Enda Murray from Kells and the Navan trio of Barry Gaynor, Michael Mills and Brendan Roe) plus Team RacearoundIreland (Alan Heary along with Dave Elson and Paul Kelly from Kells and Simon O'Dea).

The event finished at 11.45am this morning and, according to early reports went very well for the Meath teams.

It was very tough and demanding, with some of the lads breaking 100kph on the downhill parts of track, but there was also the 600-metre of climbing on every lap.

Apart from being physically drained, there were no spills or accidents within the teams and both finished in the top 25 per cent of the field.
