Ciaran Maree who passed away in 2007.

VIDEO: Legacy of Ciaran Maree lives on at Mater Hospital

In September 2007, Ciaran Maree, from Gibbstown, passed away at the Mater Hospital just ten weeks after being diagnosed with a rare and progressive form of cancer. He was just 25 years old.

Following the devastating loss of their son and brother, the Maree family set up the Ciaran Maree Cancer Research and Development Fund and have raised over €324,000 for cancer research and treatment in the Mater Hospital.

In the video below, Professor Desmond Carney outlines all that has been achieved thanks to the funds raised by the family and friends of Ciaran Maree.

The video is a thank you from Professor Carney, the staff of the Mater Hospital, and the Mater Foundation to Ciaran's closest for all they have done to improve patient care in the Mater.
