Biden to visit Newgrange

US Vice President Joe Biden is to visit Newgrange on Saturday as part of his Irish trip.

He has arrived in Dublin at the start of a six-day visit to Ireland.

While here, he will participate in bilateral meetings with Taoiseach Enda Kenny and President Michael D Higgins, and visit his ancestral homes in Mayo and Louth.

Mr Kenny welcomed him at Government Buildings last night, and presented him with a hurley and sliotar.

Today, Mr Biden and Mr Kenny will be making stops in several towns in Mayo, and visiting points of significance.

On Thursday morning, the vice president will play a round of golf there with Mr Kenny, before departing for Dublin. He is due to deliver addresses at Dublin Castle and Trinity College on Friday.

Mr Biden will tour Newgrange on Saturday morning before heading to his ancestral home of Co Louth, where he will visit the Kilwirra church and cemetery. He will fly back to Washington DC on Sunday.
