Meath youth groups urged to apply for funds

Youth inspiration and disability campaigner Joanne O’Riordan today reminded youth groups and non-profit organisations in Meath to apply for the €130,000 Coca-Cola Thank You Fund before the 7th June deadline.

In celebration of 130 years of Coca-Cola, the €130,000 Thank You Fund seeks to fund projects that that inspire and support young people in Ireland and Northern Ireland. Applications can be made online at www.coca-cola.ie/thankyou for project ideas that foster self-esteem, confidence, wellbeing and leadership in youth.

Joanne O’Riordan joined her fellow Coca-Cola Thank You Fund ambassadors, broadcasters Eoghan McDermott and Pete Snodden, to encourage non-profit and community groups in Meath to apply.

O’Riordan, who is known for her work campaigning for disability rights, urged youth groups to submit details of innovative projects which have the potential to inspire other young people to become leaders in their communities.

She said; “Helping young people to discover their passions and to learn more about what they are good at is a fantastic way of empowering them to become active citizens. The Coca-Cola Thank You Fund aims to support that, and is awarding a total of €130,000 for innovative projects that support the wellbeing of young people, along with the development of their self-esteem and confidence. If we can ensure that young people are encouraged to follow their interests, there are no limits to what they can achieve individually and as part of the local community.”

This year the Fund is being delivered in partnership with the Irish Youth Foundation and YouthAction Northern Ireland. Thirteen projects will be selected and will receive funding in the amounts of €30,000, €10,000 or €5,000.

Applications will be received online via www.coca-cola.ie/thankyou before June 7th.
