Celebrate National Fish and Chips day in traditional Italian chippers

Today is the Irish Traditional Italian Chippers Association's seventh annual National Fish & Chips Day, when ITICA members in Meath and throughout Ireland will offer their customers half price fish and chips.

Established in December 2009 and now with over 180 members throughout the country, ITICA was created to promote and build on the traditional values and ethos of the Irish Italian chipper community. In their first six months, ITICA successfully launched National Fish & Chips Day to celebrate the tradition of Fish and Chips. All ITICA member chippers carry the official ITICA logo which assures customers of the highest levels of quality and service.

The Irish Italian chipper culture was started by members of the Irish Italian community who arrived in Ireland in the 1880s. All members of this community come from the villages in Val Di Comino in Southern Italy.
