Construction starts on Kells playground

Construction on a new state of the art playground in Kells started this week.
The facility at the Fairgreen has been partially funded by Meath County Council and The Department of Children.
The council estimates that the new themed playground will be opened in early June.
Cllr Sarah Reilly, who has been working on the project for six years, says a colouring competition in local schools helped them in the design process.
The playground is now closed until the 31st May for the upgrading and revitalisation works.
It is anticipated that the new themed playground will be opened in early June.
The Kells Playground Rejuvenation Project (KPRP) is a committee established in conjunction with Kells Local Heroes and a number of clubs and community groups and it held a multi-faceted fundraising initiative to replace the playground.
According to KPRP the playground wouldn’t have been possible without the combined efforts of Kells Local Heroes, Special Hands Activity Group, The Tennis Club, The Scouts and  Cllr Sarah Reilly.
“A great thanks to everyone who has been involved in making this happen and to everyone who help fundraising and who supported us along the way,” the organisation said.
Cllr Sean Drew welcomed the project which he said would be a major benefit to families in the area,
