Nigel through on 'The Voice'

Athboy’s Nigel Connell has made it through the quarter-finals of the Voice of Ireland after coach Una Healy chose to put him through over two of her other acts.
Due to the 1916 coverage, the Voice of Ireland aired on Easter Saturday evening when Nigel Connell, Moylan Brunnock, Ciaran O’Driscoll and Jasmine Kavanagh were chosen to make it through to the next round, following some difficult decisions by their coaches in the second live knockout show of the series.
Nigel, who has drummed for both Daniel O’Donnell and Nathan Carter, pulled out all the stops on Saturday evening to deliver an amazing version of 'Live And Let Die’ by Paul McCartney.
Nigel started his music career at the age of 15, playing country music with the likes of TR Dallas and the Cotton Mill Boys. He played with singer, Sean O’Farrell, and then became a drummer for Linda Martin and later Rebecca Storm.
He was then involved in the rock band The Cunning Stunts, then six years ago Daniel O’Donnell asked him to join him and he has been Daniel’s drummer ever since.
In advance of Saturday’s show, Daniel O’Donnell sent Nigel a video message of support from Japan, where he is currently touring.
The final live knockout show will be on Sunday 3rd April and the quarter final takes place on Sunday, 10th April when public voting will return. With three acts on each team, the act that gets the highest vote from the public automatically going through, while the coach will decide which of the other two acts will make it through to the semi-finals.
