Pub gutted in arson attack

A Duleek pub has been gutted following an arson attack where a van was driven up to the doors of the premises last night and set alight.
Extensive damage was caused to Kelly’s Pub, on Duleek’s Main Street, in the incident which has shocked the local community.
The blaze was reported just after midnight. It is understood that a Northern Ireland-registered Ford Transit van was driven up to the doors of the pub and set alight. The fire quickly spread to the ground floor of the pub, which was badly damaged.
A unit from Drogheda Fire Service and two units from Navan Fire Service tackled the blaze, which was brough under control by 1.45am this morning. Navan Fire Service remained on the scene until 5am.
Ashbourne Gardai are investigating and have appealed for any witnesses or anyone with information to contact Ashbourne Garda Station on (01) 801 0600.
