€155,000 has been allocated for works at Headfort Bridge, Kells

€12 million for Meath regional and local roads

Meath has been allocated over €12m for road improvement and maintenance works on regional and local roads.
The announcement is part of a €298m national investment programme announced by Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport Paschal Donohoe.
The €12,271,812 Meath allocation has been welcomed by Fine Gael TDs Ray Butler and Regina Doherty who said: ““Meath is getting a real boost from this significant investment of €12,271,812 in our local and regional roads. The announcement of this funding allocation today by Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Paschal Donohoe, allows Meath County Council to plan its work programme for the year.”
The funding includes €6,557,759 for restoration improvements, €1,845,869 for restoration maintenance, €3,040,184 for discretionary grant, €82,500 for speed limits, and a training grant of €68,000.
A total of €435,000 has been allocated for Bridge Rehabilitation works with the largest sum (€155,000) going to Headfort Bridge. Other bridges included are: Donaghmore Bridge, Dun Bridge, Ballintry Bridge, Rathcore Bridge, and Rathbran Culvert.
A sum of €192,500 has been allocated for safety improvement works as follows: Casey’s Cross Roads on R153 €30,000; Platin (R152/L 66131-0) €32,000; R156 junction at Moyfeagher €30,000; junction of L6200, L6224 and L2207 at Belper Cross €32,500, the L1002 at Rathfeigh €35,000 and R162/ L7415-0 at Proudstown Road €33,000.
The Bettystown to Laytown Link Road has been allocated €50,000 under the 2016 Specific Improvement Grant.
