Caution urged as latest storm batters country

As Storm Frank begins to hit County Meath this afternoon, caution is being urged for those out and about on the roads.

Met Eireann is forecasting high winds and heavy rain throughout this afternoon and evening as the latest Atlantic winter storm batters the country. While Meath will escape the worst of the weather, strong to gale force southerly winds are being predicted with heavy rain spreading eastwards and becoming widespread by this evening.

Tonight will be wet and windy with continuing heavy rainfall and a risk of flooding, especially on already saturated farmland.

It will remain windy tomorrow with strong to gale force southerly winds veering west to northwest later in the day. Rain will clear for a time but there will be further rain or heavy showers for a time, say Met Eireann.
