Over 1,000 leave Meath dole queues in past year

Over 1,000 people left Meath dole queues over the past year, according to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO).
There were 7,250 people on the live register in Meath last month, down 1,089 on the same month last year - a drop of 12.6 per cent.
Of the 7,250 on the register in the county, 4,224 are men and 3,296 are women. Some 6,583 are aged 25 or over, while 937 are under 25.
November figures show there were 3,745 signing on at the Navan Social Welfare Office, 2,429 at the Trim office and 1,346 in Kells - a total fall of 158 on October. At the peak of the recession there were more than 12,000 on the live register in Co Meath. From 2013 on, the numbers started to decline and in September of this year fell below 8,000 for the first time in more than six years.
