Two local acts perform on tonight's Toy Show

For most children, the chance of being on the Late Late Toy Show is something they can only dream of but for 11-year-old Emma Murray from Longwood, that dream will become a reality on Friday night when she sings solo on the top-rating show.
The dream will also come true for 60 children from St Stephen’s NS, Johnstown, who were chosen based on their Athlone audition for one of the much sought-after performance slots on the toy show.
Emma, a pupil at Boardsmill NS, is a daughter of Eamon and Geraldine Murray. A talented singer, she played the role of 'Annie’ in the National Concert Hall two years ago. She has also appeared on RTE’s 'Music Inc’ and 'Never Board’.
Her uncle recorded her singing and the clip was sent to RTE who called her up to the RTE studios to audition.
About two weeks ago, she found out she had been chosen and her father Eamon said it was really only hitting her now that she will be singing on the Toy Show.
“She is really excited and is taking it all in her stride,” said Eamon. While the song she will perform is top secret, Eamon could reveal that she will be singing a country and western song and there will be two other children jiving with her.
Eamon and Geraldine are very proud of Emma and her family, friends and schoolmates are all looking forward to seeing her perform on Friday night. Emma is not the only act from Meath to earn a coveted spot on the toy show, as a choir from St Stephen’s NS in Johnstown will also perform. There has been huge excitement in the school in recent weeks since the children found out they had been selected. The choir is directed by teachers Aine Kealey and Finola Flannery who have been busy rehearsing with the children ahead of their performance tonight.

The Late Late Toy Show airs on RTE 1 at 9.35pm tonight.
