The search is on for the new Milk Tray Man; and chocolate makers, Cadbury think he might be in Meath!
The original 80’s icon returned to Irish screens this week to launch the nationwide search for a modern-day hero to take on the role, and to kick-off the campaign Cadbury Ireland asked over 500 Irish ladies for their thoughts.   
The research sees Jamie Dornan (24per cent ) top of the pole, just ahead of fellow actor Colin Farrell (23per cent), as the first in line to take up the new Milk Tray Man position. Rugby hunk Rob Kearney was third on 20 per cent of the vote!
When asked who would make the ideal Milk Tray Woman, Amy Huberman was the firm favourite with 36per cent of the vote. Fitness enthusiasts Roz Purcell, Kathryn Thomas and actress Saoirse Ronan all tied for second place with 13 per cent of the vote.
Made famous for his daring escapades to deliver a box of delicious chocolates to the lady he loves, the Milk Tray man’s exploits made a good impression on Irish women with 53per cent believing that the Milk Tray Man represents mystery and intrigue and a further 25 per cent felt that he symbolised big romantic gestures.
In the new advert, audiences see James Coombes, one of the original Milk Tray Men, call for wannabe candidates to step up to the mark and apply online at www.newmilktrayman.com for their chance to become the nation’s new hero.
