Neven's event on 11th November will carry a subtle flavour of Christmas.

Neven cookery night for dunsany ns

Chef Neven Maguire is returning to the Royal County for one of his popular demonstration nights. Fulfilling a long-held dream, the Cavan chef recently opened the ‘Neven Maguire Cookery School’ alongside his MacNean’s Restaurant in Blackloin.
Neven, with his much loved family friendly approach to cooking, is returning to the Ardboyne Hotel for a fundraiser in aid of Dunsany National School.
“The people of Meath are a wonderful audience, much of the great produce of the land comes from here and there is a real appreciation of good food,” he said. “I’m also delighted to be sharing the evening with some of the best artisan producers in the country.”
The event on 11th November will carry a subtle flavour of Christmas but will focus on recipes from Neven’s new book on healthy eating, ‘The Nation’s Favourite Health Food’.
Ideal for those looking to make a few small changes to their diet to look and feel better, Neven is on hand with simply healthier choices for lunch boxes and the kitchen table.
In addition to the familiar sections on beef, chicken, fish, desserts and snacks, he provides healthy alternatives to takeaways, inspirational ideas for carb-free lunches, Omega 3 rich suppers and nutrient-packed vegetable juices, with recipes for sugar-free, dairy-free and wheat-free dining that don’t compromise on flavour.
“Whether you have an intolerance or you simply want to find recipes that will help you look and feel better, join me in the Ardboyne on 11th November and we can start to figure out how to eat yourself healthy together,” he says.
Doors open at 6.30pm for the artisan exhibition, a chance to purchase some wholesome and tasty Christmas gifts. Presented by Costello’s Centra, Kilmessan, the event is being run to raise funds for Dunsany National School. A raffle will include dinner for two, with overnight accommodation at the MacNean Restaurant in Blacklion. The cookery demonstration is at 8pm. Tickets are €20 from the Ardboyne Hotel on (046) 902 3119 or Dunsany National School on (046) 902 5058.
