Reminder for navan motorists about diversions

Motorists intending to travel through Navan tomorrow on the R 147 (old N3) from Dublin to Kells or Kells to Dublin directions should note that there will be no turn right from Dublin direction/left from Kells direction at the Meath Chronicle junction on to the Kentstown Road due to a closure of the bridge which is scheduled from 9am tomorrow morning.

The closure is to facilitate remedial works on the bridge, which dates from the mid-1770s over the River Boyne.

Consequently, access to and from Athlumney, Johnstown and the Boyne Road areas of Navan will be via a diversion although the footpath will remain open.

The bridge will be closed from Monday 20th July until Friday 21st August, during which time traffic diversions will be in place via Johnstown and will be clearly signposted.

It will become clear in the morning, following the closure of the 'Kentstown Road' whether the sequence of the traffic lights at the junction has been changed.

If you are not familiar with the junction see the video clip.
